The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today released the results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020. Based on the results of the written part of civil services examination, 2020 conducted by UPSC in January 2021 and interview for personality test conducted in August-September, 2021, the Commission has now released the list in order to qualify the recommended candidates for appointment.

  • The top 25 candidates comprise 13 men and 12 women.
  • Education qualifications of the top 25 successful candidates range from graduation in Engineering, Humanities, Commerce and Medical Science from premier institutions such as IIT, BITS, NSUT, DTU, JIPMER, Delhi University, Mumbai University etc.
  • The top 25 successful candidates opted for subjects like Anthropology, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration and Sociology as their optional choice in the Main examination.

  • Candidates have been selected on the basis of the main written exam held from January 8 to January 17 and the interview held from August 2 to September 22.
  • Prior to the main written exam, a preliminary test was held in October 2020.
  • Candidates who had qualified for the preliminary test were shortlisted for the main exam.
  • A total of 2,046 candidates were shortlisted for the interview.

UPSC Final Result 2022 FAQ

What is the educational qualification for the Civil Service exam?
  • The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree from any recognized Indian university.
  • However final year students are also eligible to apply.
What is the age limit?
  • Candidate age must be between 21 to 32 years old for the General category.
Any age relaxations for Reserved category Candidates?
  • Yes, for the OBC category 3 years of relaxation, and for SC/ST there is a provision of 5 years relaxation.
  • For Defense Service Personnel disabled during service have 3 years of relaxation, ex-servicemen including service officers have 5 years of relaxation, visually challenged, physically challenged and hearing-impaired people have up to 10 years of relaxation.
Is there any limit to attempt the exam?
  • General category people can attempt max 6 times, OBC category people can attempt max 9 times, SC/ST category no limit to attempt, physically handicapped (both General and OBC category) can attempt 9 times, SC/ST physically handicapped can attempt any no of times.
