Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the BSF Recruitment vacancy, the candidates should have some required qualifications and age limits. Actually, BSF used to recruit young candidates for initial level operations. Let discuss the further details below.

Educational Qualifications

Sub Inspector (Works)
  • Deputation: Officers under the Central Government or State Government or the Central Armed Police Forces:
    (a) (i) holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
    (ii) With ten years of regular service in posts in Pay Matrix Level-4; and
    (b) Possessing the qualification and physical standard mentioned hereunder: (1) Educational Qualification – Pass three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from an Institute recognized by the Central Government or the State Government.
  • For Ex-Servicemen:
    • Deputation/ Re-employment – The Armed Forces personnel due to retire or who are to be transferred to reserve within a period of one year and having requisite prescribed qualifications and experience shall also be considered. Such persons would be given deputation terms up to the date on which they are due for release from the Armed Forces; thereafter they may be continued on re-employment.
    • The period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
Sub Inspector/ Junior Engineer (Electrical)
  • Deputation – (i) Serving Border Security Force personnel in the rank of Sub-Inspector having three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an Institute recognized by the Central or State Governments; or (ii) Serving Border Security Force personnel in the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector in the PML-5 having three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an Institute recognized by the Central or State Governments with six years regular service in the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector; or (iii) Serving Border Security Force personnel in the rank of Head Constable having three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an Institute recognized by the Central or State Governments with ten years regular service in the rank of Head Constable.
  • For Ex-Servicemen
    • Deputation/ Re-employment – The Armed Forces personnel due to retire or who are to be transferred to reserve within a period of one year and having requisite experience and qualifications prescribed shall also be considered. Such persons would be given deputation terms up to the date on which they are due for release from the Armed Forces; thereafter they may be continued on re-employment.
  • The period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
Head Constable (Generator Operator)
  • Deputation
    • Head Constables of Border Security Force possessing Industrial Training Institute certificate from a recognized institute with two years’ experience certificate in the respective trade from any Institute or Organization recognized by the Central or the State Governments subject to qualifying professional test; or
    • Constables of Border Security Force with eight years’ regular service in the levels in the pay matrix and possessing Industrial Training Institute certificate from a recognized institute with three years’ experience of certificate in the respective trade from any Institute or Organization recognized by the Central or State Governments subject to qualifying of the professional test; or (iii) Personnel holding equivalent or analogous posts in the Army, other Central Para Military Forces of the Central or State Police Organizations, Central Public Works Department or the State Public Works Department or the Central or State Government Ministries or Departments and possessing the following qualification namely: (i) Matriculation pass or equivalent from a recognized board or Institute: (ii) Industrial Training Institute certificate in respective trade from a recognized Institute with three years’ experience in the respective trade
  • For Ex-Servicemen
    • Deputation/ Re-employment: The Armed Forces personnel due to retire or who are to be transferred to reserve within a period of one year and having the requisite experience and qualifications prescribed shall also be considered. Such persons would be given deputation terms upto the date on which they are due for release from the Armed Forces; thereafter they may be continued on re-employment

  • Serving Border Security Force Head Constable (General Duty) possessing Industrial Training Institute certificate and two years’ experience certificate in the respective trade from any institute recognized by Central or State Government subject to qualifying proficiency test.
  • Serving Border Security Force Constables (General Duty) having eight years’ service and possessing an Industrial Training Institute certificate and three years’ experience certificate in the respective trade from any Institute recognized by the Central or State Governments subject to qualifying of the professional test.
  • Personnel holding equivalent or analogous posts in Army, other Central Armed Police Forces or Central or the State Police Organization, Central Public Works Department or Public Works Department or Central or the State Government Ministries or Departments and possessing following qualifications:-Matriculation pass or 10th class from recognized board or Institute or equivalent and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate in trade like Fitter or Blacksmith or Carpenter or Mason or Plumber or Pump Operator or three years’ experience in respective trade from a reputed firm subject to qualifying proficiency test.
  • Period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years’.
Head Constable (Pioneer)
  • Serving Border Security Force Head Constable (General Duty) possessing Industrial Training Institute certificate and two year experience certificate in the respective trade from any institute recognized by Central or State Government subject to qualifying proficiency test.
  • Serving Border Security Force Constables (General Duty) having eight years’ service and possessing Industrial Training Instit certificate and three years’ experience certificate in the respective trade from any Institute recognized by the Central or State Governments subject to qualifying of professional test.
  • Personnel holding equivalent or analogous posts in Army, other Central Para Military Forces or Central or State Police Organization, Central Public Works Department or Public Works Department or Central or the State Government Ministries or Departmen and possessing following qualifications: Matriculation or 10th class pass from recognized board or Institute or equivalent and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate in the trade like Mason or Carpenter or Plumber or Electrician or Blacksmith or Welder or Painter of Polisher or Mechanist or three
    years’ experience in respective trade
  • Period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years’
Constable (Generator Operator)
  • Deputation – Constables of Border Security Force with five years’ regular service in the grade and with one year experience in the trade subject to qualifying proficiency test for the trade.
  • For Ex-Servicemen
    • Deputation/ Re-employment: The Armed Forces personnel due to retire or who are to be transferred to reserve within a period of one year and having the requisite experience and qualifications prescribed shall also be considered. Such persons would be given deputation terms upto the date on which they are due for release from the Armed Forces; thereafter they may be continued on re-employment.
  • The period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other Organization or Department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
