Eligibility criteria
Education Qualification
- Inspector: A Degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized University or
Equivalent. - At least 5 (five) years experience in an Engineering Workshop or Manufacturing concern or Plant of repute.
- Sub Editor:
- An Honors degree from a recognized University
- 3 (Three) years experience as Sub-Editor or working Journalist in any media house of
repute; or 3 (Three) years experience as a Mass Communication practitioner in the Public Relations Wing of Government, Semi-Government Organization or /and Corporate House or reputed Advertisement Agencies with experience of bringing out house journals and publicity materials in print media. - Knowledge, experience, and ability to prepare original manuscripts in English and Bengali and reproductions of illustrations.
- Knowledge, experience, and ability to translate from English to Bengali
and vice versa. - Thorough knowledge and ability of proofreading in English and Bengali. (vi) Knowledge, experience, and ability to undertake and supervise computer-aided page designing.
Age limit
Candidate age limit should not more than 36 years for Inspector post as on 01.01.2021 and for Sub Editor post age limit should Not more than 36 years on 01.01.2021, relaxable at the discretion of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal, for candidates having higher qualifications and / or longer experience than those prescribed.
Application Fee
- For Inspector Post: Rs. 210/- (Rupees two hundred ten) only
- For Sub Editor Post: Rs. 160/-(Rupees one hundred sixty) only.
Candidates may in addition have to bear the following charges:
- For online payment through debit/credit cards – Convenience fee @ 1% of the examination fee subject to a minimum of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on such convenience fee.
- For online payment using net banking facility – A convenience fee of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on such convenience fee
- For offline payment through Bank Counter – Service Charge of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty) only
Selection Process
Commission has fixed the following qualifying marks in the Interview and candidates unable to secure such qualifying marks would not be considered for the post, irrespective of their academic qualification and/ or marks obtained in P.S.T.

Salary Details
Shortlisted candidates are eligible to getting salary of Rs. 67,300 to Rs. 1,73,200/- per month for Inspector of Factories post and for Sub-Editor post salary is Rs. 35,800/- to Rs.92,100/- per month from the respective board.
