About Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research University
Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research is an advanced research University founded & fully funded by the RBI for carrying out analysis on development effects from a multi-disciplinary concept. IGIDR was registered as an autonomous society on Nov 14, 1986, & as a public trust in Jan 1987. On Dec 28, 1987, it was oriented by Late. Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then PM of India. Subsequently, the University was recognized as a Deemed University under Sec 3 of the UGC Act. Now, it has about 150 employees & students that include about 26 full-time faculty members, 24 non-academic staff & about 90 M.Sc./M.Phil/Ph.D. students.
The Institute is located on a 14-acre site on a hill-slide in east Goregaont which is 15 mins by public bus from the Goregaon railway station in Mumbai’s suburban & 20 mins drive from Mumbai’s national & international airports. The architecture of the University is inspired by the historical Elephanta & Jogeshwari caves and includes office & residential buildings for research & administrative staff, seminar rooms, auditorium, library, computer center, cafeteria & guest house. Students are provided hostel accommodation on the campus. The institute also has a guest house with fifty rooms.

Important Instruction Regarding the Examination
- Candidates should reach the Examination Hall 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
- Students should carry the admit card and their valid identity card on the day of the exam.
- Take care of the question paper provided whether is correct or not, before writing your exam.
- There is a prohibition to carry any unfair means such as Mobile Phone/Pager, Scanner pen or camera, or any electronic/digital gadget, etc inside the examination hall.
- Students are advised to bring their stationery items. Exchanging of stationery is not allowed during the exam.
- Avoid any kind of malpractice during the exam. If any candidate is found involved in malpractice then he/she shall be booked under the UFM.
- If supportive material, other than that which is necessarily permitted, is found at or by the desk, it may be treated as an attempt to cheat and relevant procedures for cheating will be followed.
