How to Calculate Marks for the BARC Stipendiary Trainee Exam?

The calculation of marks varies according to which category the post the candidate has applied for falls under. The marking scheme for the BARC Stipendiary Trainee posts is as follows: –

• Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
• Each incorrect answer gets a 1 mark deduction.

Category I

The details of the marking scheme for written examination for posts under Category I are:

• Candidates have to answer 40 questions.
• Questions are based on the candidate’s B.SC or Diploma course.
• Each question is a multiple choice question, or MCQ.

Category II

The marking scheme for posts under Category varies according to the different stages of the selection process.

Preliminary Test:

• Candidates have to answer 50 questions.
• All questions are MCQs.
• The questions are divided into three different sections.
• They are Mathematics, Science and General Awareness.
• Candidates under the General category who score less than 40% are screened out.

Advanced Test:

• Give all the correct answers 3 marks each.
• Add the sum of all the correct answers.
• Give all the incorrect answers a negative marking of 1 mark each.
• Add the sum of all the incorrect answers.
• Subtract the sum of incorrect answers from the sum of correct answers to get the tentative score.
